UCA - UMR MEDIS

Lucie ETIENNE-MESMIN is an associate professor in MEDIS laboratory (Microbiology, Digestive Environment and Health, UMR 454 MEDIS UCA -INRAE) laboratory at Université Clermont Auvergne.
She is a microbiologist and her research activities research focuses on the human gut microbiota and its disruption by different inputs originating from food, such as xenobiotics (food contaminants, microplastics, nanoplastics) and food-borne pathogens (diarrheagenic Escherichia coli) using in vitro technologies. Due to the increase involvement of human gut microbiota in many diseases, she is currently working on the development of “diseased” in vitro gut models, especially simulating the human small intestine and colon environments and their associated disturbed microbiota.
