Dr. Leluo Guan is a Tier 1 Canadian Research Chair Professor in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, the University of British Columbia and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science, University of Alberta, Canada.

Dr. Leluo Guan is one of the pioneer researchers in cattle gut microbiome and its interactions with host.

Dr. Guan’s research program focuses on

  • 1) Host-microbial interactions using metagenomics/metatranscriptomics approaches, and host gene expression using a functional genomics approach
  • 2) Association between gut microbiome and feed efficiency, methane emission, meat/milk quality and safety, gut development and health in beef and dairy cattle
  • 3) Study of the bovine transcriptome, proteome, and non-coding RNAs and their roles in economically important traits.

Dr. Guan is the author or co-author of 272 peer-reviewed publications and 8 book chapter with H-index of 76.0.
